We all think only adults have the spiritual maturity to reach sainthood, Saint Abanoub’s story is a perfect example how even the youngest of hearts can beat for Christ, ready to proclaim their faith, oppose idolatry and stand-up for what is right.
Saint Abanoub is a beloved saint and a faithful intercessor of many. Even though he was just a little boy, his faith was big and he was a great witness. His story teaches us that, it is not age, but your love for God that maters, and love for God can grow vastly even inside the youngest of hearts. This is why our Lord Jesus Christ said in the Gospel of Saint Matthew: “Let the little children come to me..” (Matt. 19:14)
Many children today are facing direct opposition to their faith which can lead to confusion. Allow them read the stories of the boys and girls who came before them who had to face the same and worse. Allow them to know these stories so they don’t feel alone, so that they have friends in heaven to turn to for intercession when they’re in difficult situations.
Saint Abanoub was an ordinary boy with an extraordinary belief in Christ, he overcame the fear from all his trials thanks to this strong faith. Saint Abanoub teaches us that even the youngest of us can be little Apostles of Christ.
