Christ is Risen

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the single event in the history of the world that the whole of the Christian faith hinges upon. St Paul says in his letter to the Corinthians 15:14 "if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty". The truth of the resurrection, therefore, is pivotal to the Christian faith not only because of what it means for Jesus who rose from the dead proving his divinity but more so because of what it does for us who believe. Christ's resurrection raised us with Him from death and sin. Death and sin no longer have power over us.

It is for this reason that orthodox Christians celebrate this feast in the church cycle many times. After the feast of the resurrection, we spend 50 days celebrating the feast greeting each other "Christ is Risen, Indeed He is Risen." some of the church saints greeted there visitors with the greeting "Christ is Risen" all year round. Weekly throughout the year, we celebrate the feast every Sunday liturgy. Daily we celebrate the resurrection in the prayer of the hours.

Therefore, it is befitting to sing to the Lord's resurrection at all times and to sing to his glorious victory over death with all who we are. This album is a collection of easter songs that have been compiled from artists around the world. Some of the songs are liturgical and others are new compositions. We pray that this album helps you live the resurrection every day of your life.

This is what St. Gregory the Theologian had to say about the resurrection:

"Yesterday I was crucified with Him; today I am glorified with Him; yesterday I died with Him; today I am awakened with Him; yesterday I was buried with Him; today I rise with Him. But let us offer to Him, who suffered and rose again for us, ourselves, the possession most precious to God, and most fitting; let us give back to the Image what is made after the Image. Let us recognise our Dignity; let us honour our Archetype; let us know the power of the Mystery, and for what Christ died."
