On 15 February 2015, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) released a video of the martyrdom of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christian construction workers. These men had been kidnapped in the city of Sirte.

This video is an eyewitness account of the events that led to their martyrdom. It shows the men held hostage by masked military who then proceeded with vicious acts.

The 21 Coptic Martyrs are a witness to the strength of the faith of the Coptic church among the simplest of her believers.

And as their blood washed into the water, we are reminded by these martyrs courageous acts. Their witness to Christ is attests to the strength of the faith of the Coptic Church among the simplest of her believers.

The 21 Coptic Martyrs are the people of the Cross.
